The concept of chakras, or energy centers in the body, has been around for thousands of years and is an integral part of many Eastern healing practices. Chakras are believed to be the key to maintaining physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being by balancing and aligning the body’s energy. But where are these chakras located and what exactly do they do?
The Seven Main Chakras
In total, there are said to be over 100 chakras located throughout the body, but there are seven main chakras that run along the central channel of the body from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual functions.

1. Root Chakra
Located at the base of the spine, the root chakra is associated with feelings of safety, security, and stability. When this chakra is balanced, you feel grounded and connected to the physical world.
2. Sacral Chakra
Located just below the belly button, the sacral chakra is associated with creativity, pleasure, and sexuality. It is also linked to emotions and relationships, making it an important chakra for balance in these areas.

4. Heart Chakra
Located in the center of the chest, the heart chakra is associated with love, compassion, and connection. It is believed to be the bridge between the physical and spiritual realms, and is essential for maintaining emotional balance.
